The SEO Benefits of Article Marketing

Why do article marketing? For many Internet marketers, the SEO benefits are immense. For one, it is probably the most cost effective, yet more powerful form of Internet marketing. Why is this?

When it comes to the Internet, content is King. People are looking for information that they can use and learn from. The importance of well written content online has never been more magnified. With so many Internet marketers now using article marketing to generate bulk articles that have no substance, Internet users are now hard-pressed to find quality articles that will really answer their needs.

Search Engine Optimization is one of the bases for marketing articles. What is SEO? It is the use of well-researched keywords related to your niche in your marketing content for the purpose of driving more of your key audience to your site via search engine; that is, when people type in your keyword in a search engine such as Google, the goal is for your website to come out at the top of the results page.

SEO via article marketing can be very powerful and effective, given that you are using the keywords the right way and are really writing information that users can find use for instead of just throwing together fluff words and inserting a keyword here and there.

The important thing to remember when using article for SEO is to be able to know which keywords to use and how often to use them (keyword density). This is why you need tools such as Google Analytics-these programs will help you figure out the best keywords to use to hit your target market.

The benefits of SEO for article marketing can be clearly felt and seen, given that you are using it strategically. Done the right way, you can increase web traffic and page hits for your blog.

Making Money Online by Combining SEO and Article Marketing

Making money online is difficult for many people, but if you combine the power of article marketing with SEO, or search engine optimization, then you have an almost unbeatable combination. Forget the so-called 'black hat' secrets - I learned a long time ago that they are neither secrets nor 'black hat' whatever that means.

The term is intended to convey that somehow these guys are doing something mysterious and illegal online that the search engines such as Google cannot detect, but if you believe that then you are nuts! Google hire only the best, and these guys will spot these antics from many miles away. I once tried one black hat technique, exactly as suggested in an eBook that cost me over $100, and instantly lost my AdSense account for life. Google experts are not idiots, and I lost a good source of income that was earning me around $1500 monthly in an instant by believing these guys.

So forget it! Don't make my mistake. I have now made up for that error which I could have avoided if I had read Google's TOS - not 'black hat', just 'stupid'! Stupid or not, I got over that by following a perfectly legal technique that I read about online known as the 'silo structure' of websites. Using that I can get almost any website I develop into the top pages of Google's search engine results. That makes making money online a little bit easier!

Maybe not always Page #1, but certainly Page #2 and 3. From there it takes a few tweaks to get to the top page, and then you can work up from there. Many of these so-called 'tweaks' involve advertising and link-gathering, and I use SEO and article marketing for that. Being a professional article ghostwriter, this was not a big deal for me, but the point is that it works.

Here is how it works and what you must do.

First, you have to choose different keywords for each of your web pages, including your home page, and use these as your page titles - by that I mean both visibly, at the top of each page, and also invisibly except to search engine spiders: these are contained within Title tags in the HTML in the Head section of your page. As far as I know, this only works for HTML or CSS pages - I don't go much for Flash websites, and I am not sure how that pans out with respect to search engines and SEO. Sorry for my ignorance, but I won't try to kid you if I don't know.

In fact I am getting ahead of myself. First you should have drawn up a plan for your website - a silo structure involves a home page pointing to each of several sub pages. Each sub page has its own title and links, and links to one article page that itself then links to another and so on. Every page links to the Home Page, but to no other page but the next in sequence. I don't have time here to describe the website structure in full, but I know that it works and wouldn't try to fool you if it didn't: you would find out for yourself soon enough!

Another thing that seems to work for me is to arrange your HTML so that the spiders see your text first before any navigation. There are ways to do that, and experts have told me it is 'rubbish', but I get higher listings than these experts. When I point that out, I am told that I am using easy keywords, but what's easy about being at positions 1, 2 and 3 on Page #1 of Google for a keyword with 620 million results? Another totally different website with 131 million competing web pages?

That's not an advert - just some justification that this works. So try that and see if it works for you. SEO is more than just web design and meta tags. It's a state of mind, and article marketing also plays a significant part.

The next part of the strategy is to advertise your website using article marketing. You can either write your own articles or pay for a ghostwriter to do it for you. You will likely have to start off doing it yourself until you are making enough money to outsource. That's another buzz word at the moment: 'outsourcing'. It is simply another word for paying other people to do the work - if you can afford it, and many can't.

Sometimes I wonder if these so-called 'gurus' have their heads screwed on the right way! They charge us a fortune to tell us to get other people to do all the work for us - no doubt they will also be offering their services! Forget it.

Learn how to write articles, learn how to write some simple HTML, and the learn the very basic principles of SEO, and you can make money online using SEO and article marketing to get your web page (you only need one from each website) listed on Page #1 of Google (forget Yahoo and the rest) and you will get loads of traffic to that web page.

Just make sure it is worth visiting, and that you can offer your visitor exactly what he or she was looking for when they used the keyword for which your website is optimized.

RULE #1: if you optimize a web page for one keyword, then make sure that the page offers loads of good and useful information on the topic of that keyword.

Be honest, seem reliable and prove that you know your stuff and you should get the respect of your readers, and then deliver when they click to your web page. That is how to make money online by combining SEO and article marketing. Agreed?

Article Marketing - The Easiest Way To Make Money Online

Internet marketing is full of complicated technical things that keep most people from succeeding online. But there is a very simple way to drive traffic to your sites and generate online income. It's called article marketing.

Article marketing promotion is the easiest way to generate free traffic and back links to your sites. It's been around since the dawn of man and it continues to work no matter what happens to technology. People love good content.

When I started in online marketing, I overlooked article marketing because I think it was too obvious for me to see the logic in it. You get caught up in the hype of shiny products and new technology and lose sight of the fact that good content attracts people. Once they see some good content, they will look for more.

If you are willing to do a little work on a consistent basis, you can grow your business with every written word. Even if you end up doing other things to grow your business, you will always benefit from article marketing.

So how exactly do you use this simple technique to actually grow your online business? It's not difficult, but there are a few things that you need to know in order to really take full advantage of the process

How many articles should you write and submit?

The short answer is as many as you can. The more the merrier it's just a good idea to make sure you spread them out when you submit them.

Like everything in online marketing you want the search engines to look at your content creation and submission as "natural" and not automated.

If you do this intelligently you can get a steady stream of direct traffic as well as back links. Good articles stay out there forever and often get republished with attribution on other related high traffic sites.

You can queue up articles just like blog posts so that they upload and publish on certain dates in the future, so you can write a bunch at once and then spread the submissions out.

Even if you can only write a few, any articles are better than none and the effect is cumulative so don't get discouraged if you can't write a bunch all the time. Just keep doing it and you will benefit from it.

How many article sites can you submit the same article to?

Opinions differ on this one, but in my opinion at least one and no more than five at a time. Look for the article sites with the highest Alexa rank and just pick 3 or 4. This will give you the biggest bang for your buck and it won't dilute your message in the eyes of the search engines.

More sites will drive more direct traffic and fewer quality sites will probably be better for your SEO.

How do you get people to find your articles?

You can do this in a couple of ways. As we already know, the more popular the article directory, the more likely it is to be seen-simple. The quality of the title is huge as well. Having a short interesting and even controversial title will attract readers. Asking a question or using a title with "5 steps to.." or "7 ways to..." are always effective.

The other trick is to use your keyword phrase in your title and then twice for every 100 words in the article with positioning in the first sentence and the last sentence of the article. Just make sure you never sacrifice "readability" just to sneak in a keyword phrase

How do you get people to go from your article to your site?

Every article directory allows you to put links at the end of your article in what is usually called your "Resource Box". This is a kind of signature area where you place one or two links to wherever you want your reader to go.

Engage your reader with good content but not necessarily everything he needs to know in your article...

Then you direct him in the resource box with something like..."If you enjoyed this article and would like to learn everything else there is to know about... then come on over to.... and get all the answers you need to know about...." There are a million ways to say this, but you get the point.

How long should your articles be?

You can win with as few as 350 words, but 400 to 500 is about perfect. Long enough to warrant syndication by others and short enough to keep peoples attention. Most people think you have to write 1000's of words, but actually the opposite is true. Now days people want information quickly and they won't finish long articles.

What article sites should you use?

EzineArticles is the king of article directories and as I said earlier, you can look up article directories by Alexa rank and pick 2 through 5 to round out your list. There are some sites that are easier to use than others so play around a bit at you'll find a short list that works for your style and preference.

All these tips and tricks will make article marketing easier and more effective for you, but the most important thing is to just write. The internet marketer who consistently writes decent articles and submits them regularly, will ALWAYS beat the perfect article writer who publishes every once in a while.

On top of that, the more you write and publish, the better you will get at article marketing, so don't worry at the start. Just begin and publish and you'll look back later and thank me:-)

You may have noticed that I violated my article length rule here....but I wrote it and published it, didn't I!

Article Marketing Services And Tools

There are a lot of services and tools available out there when it comes to article marketing.

Article marketing is something done by a lot of people. As people become more proficient in article marketing, they tend to pass that knowledge onto others. The means that they use in order to pass that knowledge along can be different.

Some of these differences are reflected in the services and tools that are available online. Most of the article marketing services and tools, whether you are talking about search engine marketing, SEO or something else, can be divided into a number of different categories. The main ones are discussed below.

Submission Tool: Submission tools are arguably the first article marketing tools to appear online. These are tools that can do one of two things. They can either help you send one article to a number of different article websites, or they can help you send permutations of your article to the same website.

Either way, you are getting multiple back links to your website for the price of one written article and ultimately that is going to be good for SEO efforts you might have going. One of the main purposes of article marketing is to augment search engine marketing strategies through SEO and submission tools can help greatly in the accomplishment of that purpose.

Originality Checker: The originality checker is a lot more recent than the submission tool for articles. However, more people will use the originality checker in their daily article marketing.

This is because the originality checker allows people to discover whether their article is original content, or whether it is going to be seen as being plagiarized. Websites that have content that Google considers plagiarized will be banished to Google supplemental results and ultimately that will mean bad things for your SEO efforts.

Search engine marketing relies on original content and originality checkers allow you to make sure that your content is original. Two good examples of originality checkers online are Copyscape and Article Checker; the latter is completely free.

Submission Strategist: A submission strategist is not a tool, but rather a service.

You have doubtless already come across websites professing to have the best article marketing services around. These websites essentially have staff on them that have a lot of experience in article marketing. This experience allows them to know what articles should be submitted where.

This experience can mean great things for your search engine marketing efforts because submitting the right articles to the right places can really increase your SEO.

Part of SEO is efficiency, not just quantity and therefore a submission strategist might be a good idea if you have the money to spare.

Writer: Of course, some people want to do article marketing but are prevented from it because they are not capable of writing.

Therefore, a writer might be a very good article marketing service for you to hire, because they can make article marketing possible. A writer will be able to write good and original content. A writer will be able to write content that is rich with keywords. A writer will be able to write content that the search engines will eat up.

Then, all you have to do is take the writer's content and post it to the article websites and you will have a very good article marketing campaign going.

These are some of the main tools and services available out there for people interested in article marketing. If you are truly interested in article marketing, you will want to look at one or all of these services at some point.

While you might be a good writer, chances are you are not a good article marketer and even if you are you are going to need to want to have original articles. You will also want to have smart submissions and cut down on your own work. These tools and services help you accomplish everything you need to in order to be a good article marketer.

Internet Marketing & SEO Tips - Article Marketing - Part 2

In this first part of an ongoing series we will take a look at some best practices marketers can follow when implementing article marketing campaigns. This second installment of the series will examine a method for ensuring that the author behind an article writing campaign is able to remain productive in the face of a depleted idea bank.

As most marketers are aware, Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is a crucial aspect of any Internet Marketing campaign. Developing a healthy set of backlinks gives your site more credibility with the various search engines, resulting in higher search engines result page (SERP) placement. While all marketers chase after the coveted top position on these SERPs, most are satisfied with page one results. One of the most effective ways to help generate the requisite backlinks for these results is through the use of article marketing. In this second in an ongoing series on article marketing tips, we will examine some best practices that marketers should follow when writing content and posting articles for the purposes of SEO.

Write An Ongoing Series - When taking on article marketing for a new client, the ideas typically come fast and furiously. Initial articles providing general information about the client's offerings often turn into more in-depth looks at their specific aspects and unique strengths. However, it is not unnatural for the article writer to begin coming up short of ideas for topics to write about for their respective clients. In these instances, it is always a viable option to go with an ongoing series of articles that focus on a particular facet of the client's products.

For example, let's say your client's specialty is manufacturing office chairs. You have already written countless articles touting the features and advantages of their office chairs. Your search engine result page (SERP) placement is steadily increasing, but you feel like you have exhausted all possible article topics. This is the perfect time to tackle an ongoing series. In looking back at your articles, you notice one that you wrote about how comfortable chairs can positively impact your workday. The article was fairly general and merely took a broad overview of the benefits of a comfortable chair. It made passive statements about how the comfort of a chair can translate to a better mood, increased performance, stronger stamina, etc. This is the ideal launching point for an ongoing series!

In this instance it should be fairly easy for the writer to extract some of the points made in the previous article and write new pieces that elaborate even more on these advantages. Rather than settle for a sentence or two on how a good office chair can increase stamina, write a couple of paragraphs that describe how and why they do so, what this stamina means for the workday and how an uncomfortable chair can have the opposite effect. The advantage here is twofold.

First, the writer will be able to overcome their lack of ideas and sink their teeth into creating this new content. The ideas are already there, created by the writer; all they need is a little expansion and possibly a bit of research to flesh them out. Second, when a reader stumbles on one of your articles and is able to relate to or extract some value from the content, they will be very likely to seek out the other parts of the series, further strengthening their relationship with the brand you are marketing. These clicks can not only inspire better SEO value for your backlinks and article dissemination; they can often lead to conversions, which is the absolute end goal for internet marketers everywhere.

Link Building, SEO and Article Marketing - Quick Start Guide

You can achieve multiple goals with article marketing. For example, not only can you generate traffic and sales directly from your articles, you are also engaged in building quality back links for your sites. You enjoy the SEO benefits that come along with article marketing. Here is a quick start guide.

Step 1: Focus is key. - When you are just starting out, all that information can be overwhelming. You learn about SEO, link building methods, how to write articles for sales, how to generate clicks, etc. That's a lot to digest. So it's important to keep your focus and keep your attention on content marketing. Start with keyword generation and learn how to craft precise titles using those keywords.

Step 2: Pick popular keywords with low search competition for SEO purposes. - Practice using keyword tools to pick phrases with higher search volume, and at the same time, making sure that these phrases are worth going after (low search competition). This step is very important because if you focus on the wrong keywords, you will end up getting very little traffic. Use these keywords as your anchor texts to boost the rankings for your own sites.

Step 3: Write interesting content. - Some marketers publish content just to get links. So they forget about human readers. Try to write both for human readers and search engines. Personally, I think that it's better to focus on human readers first, search engines second. That is because when you have quality content, the search engines will be chasing after your content (and not the other way round).

SEO Article Marketing For Small Businesses

With the millions of websites out there how can a small business market itself effectively online? There is no doubt about it, it takes WORK! However, with a well integrated campaign of SEO, PPC, and a good follow up your business can thrive. One part of that campaign should be search engine optimization (SEO) and within that SEO strategy article marketing should be a top priority.

Here are the benefits of article marketing and how they can help your website rank higher:

- the first and most obvious result will be incoming links from the article directories and those that use your article because of the bio box you use that includes the link

- submit multiple articles to multiple directories for the best exposure and to build more interest in your writing

- use keyword research to gear your article towards popular search terms so that more people will use it and link to you, bringing you more exposure and more traffic

- make the best of your resource box, use your name (or title, whatever you are branding) a link, and at least one important keyword in the bio box

- don't give away the whole package at one time, give tips and be informative but leave a little bit yet to be learned so they will want to click on the link in your byline to learn more

- give examples, no matter your topic may be a real life example is always interesting and gets people curious enough to want to click to hear more about it

- don't be a pushy, an article full of click here, go here, see me, is going to defeat the purpose behind itself

- don't expect it to happen over night, it takes time as your article gets distributed and the results for each article you do are going to be different in the amount of time it takes to see results happen

- article marketing is just one slice of the pie, combined with other marketing techniques it can build a strong foundation for your website or blog, but it's best not to rely on only one single method.

There's no doubt about it article marketing is worth investing your time into it, but if you don't have the time you can hire a firm to write and distribute the content for you.
